The Onion Lily is dug out of the ground, the roots are removed and the onion is mashed and boiled. The paste and tonic is used to treat skin disorders, leprosy, spear wounds, stomach and internal pain. The brown lines represent the roots; the white dots with red colouring is the medicinal properties of the Onion Lily. Can you see the two Aboriginal women with their digging sticks? And how the medicine is used (hint: can you see the leg?). Lastly, the artwork is decorated with the sweet-scented frangipani found on our traditional Country (Jirrbal & Yidinji).
